Making your Lawn stand out with Jirdon!

We LOVE Jirdon fertilizer. Obviously, because the only lawn fertilizer we have been using and selling for years. Not all fertilizers are created equal, and Jirdon knows that. With our lacking soil, we need more nutrients to keep our plants thriving. This is why Jirdon works so much better than other brands like Scotts, Expert Gardener, Vigoro, Pennington, or other nationwide brands. Jirdon is specifically formulated for our soil in the Rocky Mountain region and that’s why it works so well here! Here are a few products that can keep your lawn looking spectacular during any time of the growing season!

Greenmaster Fertilizer: This is a customer favorite and for good reason! It is a great general fertilizer for turf that needs a little pep in the spring but can also be reapplied once a month to keep your grass green all summer! It is a premium formula that is high in Nitrogen and Iron (things our soil severely lacks)

Heat & Drought Stress: Use this fertilizer to keep strained sod looking and feeling healthy on the hottest of summer days. It is best applied in Late June - Early July but can be applied as late as August. This blend helps feed your lawn under poor moisture conditions. It is also high in phosphate which increases root development, while the potassium helps protect against the heat and drought stress during the hottest months.

Seed & Sod Starter: This fertilizer is a must when planting new seed or sod. It helps newly lain seeds root and prevents stock in new sod. Helps promote uniform growth over a long period of time and has a low burn potential. Use it to establish your new turf when it is the most vulnerable and help your lawn get off to a good start!

Weed n’ Feed: Helps feed your lawn while also eliminating existing weeds. Controls chickweed, dandelions, knotweed, plantains, henbit, spurge, and many others! Needs to be applied when there is dew on the grass. Other lawn fertilizers can be applied only two weeks after Weed n' Feed is applied!

  • 20-10-5

  • Contains Trimec to eliminate broadleaf weeds

Winterizer Fertilizer: This fertilizer has nitrogen for root development and also helps your turf build carbohydrates for early spring green-up. It also has iron to help your sod resist winter damage. It is best applied after the grass stops growing in the fall.

  • 18-6-12

  • 1% Iron

  • 10% Sulfur

  • 40 Pound Bag covers 10,000 sq. ft.

A few notes:

  • Grass cannot be fertilized in the middle of the day. Fertilize your lawn in the early morning or late evening to prevent chemical burns and to receive the best results.

  • All Jirdon fertilizers that we carry are a granule fertilizer and require a broadcasting tool or spreader for application.

  • Clean your sidewalk and driveway after applying fertilizer. Fertilizer can stain your walkways and it is also terrible to get into our waterways.

  • Water your lawn after fertilizing to make sure that your grass takes up the nutrients and also to prevent chemical burn.

We hope this blog helps you understand lawn fertilization a little bit better and that you maybe learned a thing or two! Let us know if you have any questions by leaving us a comment or by calling us at 307-875-5434.
